About the Designer

Throughout my childhood I saw my grandma with her reading glasses on and a needle and thread in her hand working on some project or the other. She has always been very creative, and when she wasn’t cooking something delicious in the kitchen she would be replenishing duvets, fixing holes in pockets or making aprons from leftover fabric. Women of that generation are passionate about recycling and making sure nothing is wasted and my grandma is one of them. It’s safe to say I’ve inherited and learnt these traits from her and it’s brought me where I am today - just wish she’d passed on the cooking skills too!

My journey in fashion started at the tender age of 10 when I created a skirt for my sister by using a skirt from our wardrobe as a template. At 14, I took some sewing lessons and by the time I was at college I was creating made-to-measure clothing as a side hustle.

Alongside designing and sewing in my spare time, I completed a Masters in Education and became a teacher. The excessive planning and paperwork required in teaching made me even sure that my real passion was in fashion. After a brief stint into a teaching career, I was catapulted into the world of self-employment with the start of a new business venture in 2009 - the opening of my very own boutique - Jalabeeb, and I have never looked back since.

About The Brand

Jalabeeb was established in 2009 after identifying a gap in the market for elegant, modest and on trend clothing. Starting out as an abaya label, the brand has now evolved to encompass all aspects of a woman’s wardrobe, covering daily wear to all the different occasions in a woman's life.

Our basic, casual ranges are released twice a year and these collections are made up of interchangeable pieces, creating a wardrobe that transitions seamlessly from day to evening, weekday to weekend, and season to season.

Our Ready To Wear Collections for occasions are available all throughout the year with a special collection being released for Eid Ul Fitr.

Working from our boutique based in Preston, UK, we also specialise in bespoke bridal and occasion wear.

Our in house production is what we pride ourselves in and is what allows us to provide a bespoke luxury service using the finest of fabrics. Alongside this we take our environmental responsibility very seriously and we have a zero-waste approach to garment production and seek to minimise waste in all our processes.
